Oak Hill Church of Christ 5-4-25 Message: "Now What Do I Do?"

Oak Hill Church of Christ Deacon, Alvin Dillard, delivers a message on the importance of remaining faithful to God after we choose to follow Him through Christ.

Life isn't easy. In fact, Jesus said specifically that for the Christian, it would be even harder than normal. Not only will the Christian have to endure the trials common to all humanity, but they will also uniquely be facing trials related to their faith in Christ.

Believing in Jesus, confessing him as the Son of God, admitting sin and guilt before God, and trusting Him to make good on His promise of forgiveness through the New Covenant purchased by the blood of Christ is key to salvation, but what happens after you believe?

It would be very nice if believers in God all had easy lives where everything worked out. Of course, if that were the case, everyone would become a believer.

Just as Peter's slipping into the water through doubt immediately follows his brave, trusting request to walk on the water with Jesus, so, too, our lives can experience trials and failures.

Just as with Peter's response, so, too, we should look to Jesus and grow our faith. Times of trouble and trial can be opportunities for deepened faith and renewed trust in God, especially when we focus on how often God delivers us from our trials and struggles.
