Yeshua Revealed Christmas a Pagain Celebration
Romans practiced sun worship, particularly through the veneration of the sun god, Sol. Sol Invictus, meaning "the Unconquered Sun," became particularly prominent during the later years of the Roman Empire, especially under Emperor Aurelian in the 3rd century AD, who established a formal cult and dedicated temples to this deity. The worship of Sol Invictus included various festivals and rituals, particularly around the winter solstice, which celebrated the return of longer days as the sun began to shine more brightly after the darkest part of winter.
The blending of sun worship with other religious practices was common in the Roman Empire, as it absorbed and syncretized various local and foreign deities. This cultural context of sun worship is often linked to the timing of Christmas being set on December 25, which coincided with the Roman festival celebrating the rebirth of the sun after the winter solstice.
