Marvel Changes Name of Thunderbolts* Following Mediocre Opening Weekend

Marvel created confusion surrounding Thunderbolts* by changing the name of the movie on the poster following a poor opening weekend.

The title for the movie has been Thunderbolts* for some time with the asterisk as part of the title. It was revealed at the end of the movie the asterisk was included because in the end the team is revealed to be the New Avengers. One could make the argument there was a plan to change the title after the opening weekend, but it does seem like a reaction to the poor box office performance. Other studios have done similar things in the past and it’s likely if the movie did well Marvel would have held off on the change.
