“Forbidden Love” – A Teenage Song Born from Real Life

Written when I was just a teenager growing up in a children’s home, Forbidden Love is more than a song — it’s a window into the heart of a young boy desperate for connection in a world that felt cold and temporary.

The lyrics were born out of an intense emotional attachment I formed with one of the house parents. It was a love I couldn’t express, didn’t understand, and wasn’t allowed to feel. It wasn’t about romance — it was about longing, attachment, and the deep human need to be seen and loved. It felt beautiful and shameful all at once. A forbidden love.

This song captures that moment in time — the ache, the confusion, and the fire of teenage emotion in a setting where love was rationed and affection felt dangerous.

Decades later, I still carry that boy inside me. Today, I am an ordained Priest , a father, a grandfather, and an advocate for young people who feel like they don't belong.
