Minuteman My Thoughts

This video is my thoughts on the decline of the Minuteman in modern day as compared to the founding of this great nation. You may agree and you definitely are able to disagree.

1.) Before a standing army, there were the Minutemen – the ultimate citizen-soldiers. This is where the heavy tie in with militias and fighting forces of the people.

2.) As times changed and a regular military established (all branches) the role of the citizen soldier shifted. Example more use of National Guard on the home front while active duty was deployed.

3.) The one thing that has stayed the same is the input of the citizen or population. While we are now all connected one way or another we are disconnected from our neighbor.

Citizen-Soldiers: They weren't professional soldiers but rather civilians who volunteered to be part of the militia.
Rapid Response: The defining characteristic was their commitment to be ready to assemble and fight on very short notice, hence the name "Minutemen."
Local Defense: They were typically organized at the town or local level and were initially intended for the defense of their communities.
Key Role in Early War: Minutemen played a crucial role in the early stages of the Revolutionary War, most notably in the Battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775, which are often considered the start of the war.
Not a Formal Army: While they were organized, they weren't part of the Continental Army. However, they often fought alongside and eventually integrated into the larger Continental forces.
