Trump says US to stop attacking Houthis in Yemen

Former President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. would stop airstrikes on Yemen’s Houthi rebels, claiming they had “capitulated” and agreed to stop attacking Red Sea shipping.

Oman confirmed a ceasefire deal ensuring neither side would target the other, aiming to protect international maritime trade.

The Houthis have not publicly responded.

Since March, the U.S. has struck around 1,000 targets in Yemen, following repeated Houthi attacks on ships, the BBC has reported.

Meanwhile, Israel continued retaliatory strikes on Houthi targets after a missile landed near Tel Aviv, destroying Sanaa’s airport and hitting other infrastructure.
