This one is based on the real life experiences of Miriam Weeks[Eng Sub]

Miriam Weeks (Haley Pullos) is a good student who wants to attend Duke to study pre-law, but she will have to sacrifice to make that happen. She was accepted, but her boyfriend dumped her and she will be away from her family, who is struggling to help with tuition. When her father shifts work positions and can no longer afford to pay her expenses, Miriam is unable to find a decent job and doesn’t want to go deep into debt, so her options are limited. She takes a chance and creates a profile on a website that casts young women for porn videos, almost as a joke, but she is soon contacted and finds herself on camera for a controversial website. The experience wasn’t positive, but the money was good and she gets in with a reputable agent, who starts assigning her to more mainstream porn shoots. Soon she is raking in cash, rising in popularity with porn fans, and on the brink of porn stardom. But throughout the porn process, she didn’t think about what would happen if those close to her discovered her secret…and word is starting to spread.
This one is based on the real life experiences of Miriam Weeks, who became national news for her porn career as Belle Knox. As usual with these kind of “based on a true story” productions, the basic premise is on point, but the accuracy of details is arguable at best. The consensus is that From Straight A’s to XXX paints a much more sympathetic portrait of Weeks than the real life events, but I am not in a position to confirm or deny that perspective. I can confirm that this Lifetime movie is fun to watch, with humorous looks inside the adult film business and of course, plenty of melodrama and mean girl talk. Miriam finds herself shamed by both her college peers and her porn business colleagues, so there’s a lot of slut shaming, harassment, and general girls hating on other girls. Haley Pullos is quirky and has good presence, shifting between mousy nerd and porn sex goddess with ease. The rest of the cast is passable as well, with Judd Nelson as a colorful talent manager, though Miriam’s roommate has one of the worst southern accents around. The pace here is brisk and the movie has no real slow spots, so it remains entertaining throughout. The social commentary interjected is interesting, but isn’t given enough depth or screen time to amount to much. So if you like your Lifetime movies on the sexy side, this one proves to be worth a watch.

No nakedness. But by Lifetime movie standards, this one skirts the edge more than most and has some skin, even if it isn’t naked flesh. Plus the porn shoots provide some cringe level dialogue, which is always a good thing. No blood. Miriam is bullied and shamed, but never outright attacked with physical violence. The dialogue is a mix of mean girl talk, pro sex feminism, and awkward porn script lines, so not a bad blend and some fun stuff makes it through here. Of course, if you don’t like catty girls shaming each other, then that fun is dampened. Lifetime never shies away from verbal abuse, but this movie packs a much harsher, direct line of shaming with a buffet of terms of like slut, skank, hooker, and other sexually degrading terms. This is likely to be hard to hear for some, so I wanted to mention that here. The movie also deals with men who think that because Miriam is involved in porn, that she will have sex with anyone who offers, so at least the movie explores some of these topics, even if not in depth. In terms of craziness, this one plays pretty close to the chicksploitation guidelines, though it is a little more edgy than most Lifetime movies. So a point awarded for how direct and unflinching it can be, but not that wild of a movie overall.
