Cardinal Sarah: "Man, where are you?"

Lies, death, division of knowledge from the mother's bed in a hospital, through public squares, national or international relations, the dragon sows violence, war, death, a world of single thought.

Carried by the mass media, spreads its sky over beings who seem deprived of common sense. And then there is this confusion maintained complacently between truth and falsehood by those who have the power to teach the truth.

In Western countries like France, daring to speak the truth about marriage, about family, about the sacred respect for the life of unborn children, about the immutable doctrine and moral teaching of the Church or homosexual civil unions, to name just these examples, your Christianity faces mockery and marginalization.

Many of our contemporaries, sometimes even men of the Church, fall into relativism and moral confusion. Situations that, as Benedict XVI has stated, are a terrible dictatorship. Yet, the evidence is clear, unquestionable.

Confusion, apostasy, violence, despair, deadlock and death. And innocent victims.

Who then will be the Good Samaritan of this mortally wounded Western society, wounded by a deep crisis, anthropologically speaking? A deep crisis at the level of faith, at the level of morality.

God, however, tirelessly, continues to call since the dawn of humanity, man, where are you? Adam, where are you? God is searching for us despite our distance, despite our indifference. God says, man, where are you, dear brothers and sisters, if we are Christians? It is not because we believe in some sweet little stories, passed down through generations that serve to make men forget their suffering and anxieties.

If we are Christians, what we believe in, we have faith. We live from that Marian beatitude of faith, what we believe despite the winds and barricades, that God loves every man in Jesus, Christ Dead and risen.

We also believe that Christ is dead to save us from death by tearing us from the power of the prince of this world, the dragon, the power of Satan. To open to us the way to eternal life and these paths in Jesus Christ Himself here the way, the truth, and the life.
