Columbia, MD - A 911 call for a man passed out in a vehicle at a gas station in Columbia led to the discovery of an illegally possessed gun, according to Howard County police.

Authorities said a 911 caller claimed a man stopped in front of him at a BP gas station off Harpers Farm Road in Columbia.

When the caller went to see what the man was stopped for, he noticed the man was actually asleep.

The body camera video shows an officer approach the car, where you can see a man asleep inside.

After approaching, the officer quickly noticed a gun in the passenger seat of the vehicle and stated, "Cover him, I'm going to retrieve it."

The officer opened the car door, grabbed the gun, and unloaded one round in the chamber.

"Great job and quick work by these patrol officers to take an illegally possessed gun off the streets and avert a potentially dangerous situation!" said Howard County Police Department
