Elon Musk: Regulations are often artificially kept alive by an ecosystem of consultants.

“A thing that tends to happen is that once regulations are passed, an ecosystem of consultants forms around those regulations that wants to keep them going.

Environmental regulations are particularly bad in this regard. I'm very much pro-environment, but the environmental regulations are, in my view, largely terrible.

They're very much permission-based as opposed to paying a penalty if you do something wrong, which I think would be much more effective.

In general, I think governments around the world should be actively deleting regulations and questioning whether departments should exist.”
