Tamara Lich Found Guilty!

Tamara Lich, one of the courageous leaders of the Freedom Convoy was recently found guilty of criminal mischief relating to her activities at the Freedom Convoy in early 2022. She has not yet been sentenced, but could be facing additional jail, house arrest and/or probation time.

The last time we discussed Tamara, she was awaiting her verdict at trial. Unfortunately, things did not turn out how we had hoped. She was facing 6 total criminal charges, one of which was stayed by the prosecutor, and the other 4 she was found not guilty on. The fact she was found not-guilty on the other charges is a silver lining to this situation, but the conviction is still extremely disappointing.

This saga has been ongoing for nearly 3 years, and has involved Tamara being arrested, re-arrested and jailed for 49 days.

Even though she finally has an answer from the court, she still doesn't know what her sentence will be. The prosecutor has asked for 10 years in jail.

Tamara has logged over 36,000 km driving to and from Ottawa for hearings related to this trial and the Convoy. She now has to travel once again for her sentencing hearing in July.

Not only is she unable to work while she's traveling to and from Ottawa, she's incurring expenses for gas, food, and lodging.

Aside from this clearly unfair conviction, what is even more frustrating is that Tamara still doesn't know what her sentence is.

The penalty hearing is scheduled from July 23-25th, where both sides will give submissions as to penalty. Even then, the judge will not give her decision at that time, but will take a month or two to give a final sentence. These endless delays are extremely frustrating.

All the while, Tamara is under onerous restrictions that keep her from speaking to close friends and associates connected to the Convoy. She has been muzzled for 3 years now.

The prosecutor intends to bring in plaintiffs from the massive civil lawsuit against the Convoy to tell their story about all the hardships they faced during the Convoy in hopes that will give Tamara a greater sentence.

He is also bringing a forfeiture application to take Chris Barber's truck.

Tamara's bravery and leadership led her to be targeted and arrested (and re-arrested). She was jailed for 49 days in all, and put under onerous bail restrictions.

It's likely the Canadian government has spent millions and millions of dollars persecuting Convoy Heros like Tamara, who is a working class mother and grandmother, while violent car-jackers and other criminals are repeatedly released on bail.

This is unbelievable. At the same time, it's caused people like Tamara to spend thousands of their own dollars in lost work, travel, food, lodging and legal bills.

Please help Tamara today to recoup some of her expenses, and to stand up against a corrupt regime. It means a huge deal to Tamara, and is a perfect way to push back against corruption in our government.

Her decision to be the firm yet soft-spoken leader of the Convoy ensured a seasoned and calm voice answered back to the government's multiple provocations. She kept all the participants calm and cool in the midst of the government's attempts to paint them all as racists, terrorists, and seditionists.

This has already been over a three year ordeal for the peaceful Grandmother who was the main public face of the Convoy.

The trial itself has been grueling. Initially only scheduled for 16 days, it will now have stretched to 45 days, spread out over many months.
