Week 15 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge see the entire nation of Israel unite around David as their King and the City of Jerusalem established as the Kingdom's Capital.

Despite a few minor hiccups along the way, essentially this is a great season for David! The tribes are all united behind him, together with a powerful national army; a glorious palace precinct is built for him in Jerusalem; the Prophet Nathan assures him that his sons will 'forever' reign on Israel's throne; and the Ark of the Covenant is brought into Zion as a clear indicator of God's presence with His people.

It is here also, it seems, that worshipping God to music and song is elevated to a whole new level of priority in the life of Israel, courtesy of David.

In this tutorial, Chad encourages us to appreciate something of the variety of songs we see in the Book of Psalms and, importantly, to not 'read over' the somewhat repeated narrative of 2 Samuel we see in Chronicles. There's some great gems there in the Chronicles account, and, much like with the Gospels, good reason we have both books to help us appreciate the story as it unfolds...
