A whale's earwax is built up in layers and even tells its age like a trees rings. But scientists have discovered the wax holds much more information than its age. Pollutants and hormones become trapped within each layer of wax throughout a whales life. By measuring the presence for these in the wax, a history of a whales health can be made.
