These are massive websites, they have got loads of contents, years of historical date and tons of backlinks. The big reason they rank so well is literally because of the size and authority of their website.

The next thing to look at is referring domains. This helps you avoid competing with pages that rank just because they have a massive number of backlinks. So if a page has 50 backlinks, you don't want to build a great piece of content and then have to go build 50 backlinks just to try and outrank it. In that case, aim for pages that only have ten referring domains. That's your window to break in.
