51 Seconds Off My Mile

Our youngest had a rough night of sleep last night. So, there was no lifting this morning. BUT, I made sure to get a run in over lunch, and I surprisingly shaved 51 seconds off last week's mile. Last week was 10:52. Today was 10:01! A month ago, I was running a 12 minute mile. I'd love to hit an 8 minute mile again. But, I'm very happy with 10 minutes. I also didn't feel like I had to stop when I got to my preplanned stopping point. Next week, I'll run a little bit farther. The distance goal right now is 2 consecutive miles. Eventually, I'd like to be running 3 miles again. So, I'll be getting there eventually. Maybe I'll start doing a couple of 5k's a year. I didn't race back in high school even though I should have. It would be fun to start doing it for the first time in my 40's.
