Lens Crafter II

An edger for glasses uses diamond-coated or ceramic grinding wheels to precisely shape lenses to within about 0.05–0.1 mm accuracy, ensuring a snug fit in frames.

The process starts with a tracer, which digitally maps the frame’s shape and size, followed by a blocker that aligns the lens using a small adhesive or mechanical block.

The edger then cuts the lens to the traced pattern, applies the necessary bevel (for full-rim frames) or groove (for semi-rimless designs), and finishes with safety beveling and polishing tools to smooth the lens edges.

Advanced edgers can also handle specialized cuts, like drill mounts or step bevels, making them essential for high-precision optical work.
