Despite these early indications, subsequent reports have cast doubt on the game's development. In December 2019, a former Bandai Namco Singapore Studios employee revealed that the project had been canceled, citing it as one of two Unreal Engine 4-based titles that were never released .

Adding to the intrigue, in April 2025, previously unseen footage of a Ridge Racer game purportedly developed for the Nintendo Switch surfaced online.
