Democritus was an ancient Greek philosopher who lived around 460–370 BC. He is best known for developing the atomic theory of the universe, proposing that all matter is composed of tiny, indivisible particles called atoms. His ideas laid the groundwork for modern scientific thought. Beyond physics, he explored ethics, happiness, and human nature, believing that true happiness comes from wisdom and virtue.
