Jen: I used to make kids try to tell time on an analog clock if they came into my office asking me for something. They don't even know where to start. The kids can't read, do math, or tell time. Society is screwed.
Croxxed Out: I had an accounting student actually argue with me (she was doing book keeping/pay for a restaurant)... that 1.5 hours was actually calculated at 1.3 x the hourly rate. Why? Because in her mind, there was only "30 minutes" in a half hour, not 50 minutes. She thought that 1 hour + 30 minutes should mean 1.3 Yeah.
Eileen: This would be funny if it weren’t true. When I was a classroom assistant a few years back before I retired, none of the kids could tell time without a digital clock.
VT: It would have taken a boomer about a minute to explain that to her.

A "quarter after 12" refers to 15 minutes past 12 o'clock. The term comes from dividing an hour into four equal parts, like quarters of a clock face. Each quarter represents 15 minutes (since 60 minutes ÷ 4 = 15). So, "quarter after 12" means 15 minutes after 12:00, which is 12:15.
SHannon78: 25 25 25 25- ask her when and hour became 100 minutes🤣 surely she understand fractions and 1/4 of anything (60 minutes in this instance) is a quarter. So 15 minutes is a quarter of and hour. Simple logical and even my 3rd grader can do it 🤣
