If God Designed Universe, Why So Inhospitable to Life?

If God created the universe, why does most of it seem empty and hostile to life?

Perhaps the vastness is intentional—to show us how small and dependent we are. The Bible says, “The heavens declare the glory of God.” That sounds exactly like the kind of universe we’re in.
