The Care Bag Movement in Algonac, Michigan, is a student-led community initiative providing essential personal items to children entering foster care or facing crisis. Each spring, over 175 volunteers gather for a Sew-a-Thon at the Algonac Lions Hall to assemble care bags, which are then distributed through local agencies such as the St. Clair County DHHS and Kids In Distress.

Founded at Algonac High School and supported by local churches and organizations, the movement not only meets immediate needs but also fosters youth leadership and community engagement. It’s a powerful example of how grassroots efforts can bring dignity, comfort, and hope to vulnerable children.
