First white South Africans arrive under US refugee plan

The Trump administration on Monday (May 12) welcomed dozens of white South Africans it has granted refugee status to for being deemed victims of racial discrimination, a move that has drawn criticism from Democrats and stirred confusion in South Africa. "All of these folks who have just come in today have been carefully vetted pursuant to our refugee standards," said U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
