Trump says only a "stupid person" would refuse Qatar's gift of a New Air Force One jet

Addressing reports that he has been offered a luxury Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet from Qatar’s ruling family – ahead of a trip to the Middle East this week – U.S. President Donald Trump Monday told reporters he would be a “stupid person” to not accept the gift.

If gifted, the aircraft is expected to be converted into the next Air Force One, until shortly before Trump leaves office again in January 2029 – when ownership would be transferred to the foundation watching over the Republican leader’s presidential library.

“We’re disappointed that it's taking Boeing so long to build a new Air Force One,” Trump said. “We have an Air Force One that's 40 years old.”

Questioned on the ethics of being gifted a multi-million dollar plane, Trump retorted, “They're giving us a free jet. I could say, ‘no, no, no, don't give it to us, I want to pay you…’ or I could say ‘thank you very much’.”
