Held in His love

From my essay on tragedy, where new parents grieve the impending loss of their son at one day's age. God isn't oblivious to teir pain, but cares for them, those around them, and their son. It happens, not often, but even once is too much.

A couple’s dream, a baby’s cry,
A perfect boy beneath the sky.
But hidden deep, a cruel design,
His body fails, no strength to find.
They feed him love, they hold him near,
Yet in a day, their joy turns fear.

Oh, Held in His love, through the pain and the tears,
God’s arms are wide, calming all of our fears.
Though tragedy strikes, and the heart breaks in two,
His mercy is present, His promise is true.

“Why, Lord?” they cry, in grief’s dark night,
How can such wrong steal hope’s pure light?
The world may doubt, say God’s not there,
But He’s beside them, He hears their prayer.
He holds the child, the staff, the home,
And whispers, “You are not alone.”

Oh, Held in His love, through the pain and the tears,
God’s arms are wide, calming all of our fears.
Though tragedy strikes, and the heart breaks in two,
His mercy is present, His promise is true.

The love of a lifetime, poured out in a day,
A memory eternal, no grief can take away.
God’s grace is the miracle, shining through the pain,
He carries the broken, till glory comes again!

Life’s gift is precious, though pain may abide,
God’s love is the anchor where hope never dies.
We don’t know the why, or the reason for loss,
But we trust in His heart, through the weight of the cross.
Till the day He returns, when all tears fade away,
His love holds us fast, till that glorious day.

Oh, Held in His love, through the pain and the tears,
God’s arms are wide, calming all of our fears.
Though tragedy strikes, and the heart breaks in two,
His mercy is present, His promise is true.

Held in His love, we will rise, we will stand,
With faith in the Savior, who holds every hand.
For the boy rests in glory, where pain has no claim,
And we’ll meet him in heaven, praising Jesus’ name.
