What is the Urim and Thummim in the Bible? Leviticus 8.8 - Short

What are the Urim & Thummim
mentioned in the Bible?
We really are not sure, but we do see them used in Numers 27.21 and 1 Samual 14.37-45. From this we can conclude that they were a means for the High Priest to determine God's will. Why do we not have more details in our Bible of this? Why do we not have the Urim & Thummim today?
