COMBAT BRIEFING NUMBER 1077
"Military Situation Report – May 13, 2025"
*Strategic Briefing by Colonel A.C. Oguntoye*
As of May 13, 2025, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have continued to advance on multiple fronts in the ongoing special military operation, consolidating tactical gains and applying sustained pressure across the entire line of contact. The tempo of operations remains high, with coordinated strikes, combined arms maneuver, and systematic disruption of Ukrainian logistics and command infrastructure.
"Northern Front (Sumy Region):"
The North group inflicted substantial losses on Ukrainian mechanized, assault, and territorial defense units near Atynskoye, Ryzhevka, Pavlovka, and Bessalovka. Ukrainian forces lost over 195 personnel, three tanks, and seven artillery pieces, including two U.S.-made M777 155-mm howitzers. Russian strikes also destroyed two electronic warfare (EW) stations, degrading the adversary’s command and control in the sector.
"Western Axis (Kharkov–Donetsk):"
The West group continued to press forward in Kharkov and Donetsk, engaging Ukrainian forces in Monachinovka, Nechvolodovka, Kupyansk, Kirovsk, Redkodub, and Yampol. More than 210 Ukrainian servicemen were eliminated, along with multiple armored vehicles, including two U.S.-supplied HMMWVs. The destruction of two ammunition depots will further constrain Ukraine’s ability to reinforce and resupply in this corridor.
"Southern Front (Donetsk):"
The Southern group secured more favorable positions and inflicted significant damage in areas including Seversk, Serebryanka, Konstantinovka, and Chasov Yar. Losses for Ukrainian forces exceeded 290 personnel, with five armored vehicles and three EW stations neutralized. The simultaneous elimination of multiple ammo and supply depots undermines Ukrainian logistical resilience on this axis.
"Central Sector – Key Liberation:"
A major highlight of the day’s operations was the liberation of "Mirolyubovka" in Donetsk by the Center group. This was achieved through coordinated actions against a broad array of Ukrainian units — including mechanized, Jaeger, marine, and National Guard formations — across ten settlements. The engagement resulted in over 470 Ukrainian casualties and the capture or destruction of multiple armored assets and vehicles.
"Eastern Advance (Donetsk–Zaporizhia):"
The East group advanced deeper into enemy defenses, engaging in fierce combat in areas such as Voskresenka, Bogatyr, and Volnoye Pole. More than 160 Ukrainian personnel were neutralized, alongside artillery and EW systems. These advances have shifted the tactical balance eastward and exposed Ukrainian defensive gaps.
"Dnepr Group Operations (Zaporizhia–Kherson):"
In the southern theater, Dnepr group forces defeated Ukrainian elements near Stepovoe, Lukyanivske, and Ponyatovka. Losses included over 50 Ukrainian troops and the destruction of 10 vehicles and an ammunition depot — continuing the pressure on coastal defense brigades in the region.
"Strategic Strike Operations:"
Russian aviation, drone, missile, and artillery forces targeted 132 sites, including the "Bogdan self-propelled artillery unit assembly facility", and temporary deployment points for both Ukrainian units and foreign fighters. These precision strikes are designed to paralyze enemy logistics and manufacturing capacity.
"Air Defense Activity:"
Russian air defenses remained active, intercepting eight JDAM bombs, a HIMARS rocket, and 74 unmanned aerial vehicles — reflecting continued success in neutralizing both strategic and tactical airborne threats.
"Cumulative Losses Inflicted (Since Start of Operation):"
* 662 aircraft
* 283 helicopters
* 56,944 UAVs
* 605 air defense systems
* 23,310 armored vehicles
* 1,562 MLRS vehicles
* 24,791 artillery pieces and mortars
* 35,394 special military vehicles
"Summary:"
May 13 marked continued momentum for Russian forces, with advances across multiple sectors, including the liberation of Mirolyubovka. The integration of tactical ground maneuvers with long-range strikes and effective air defense reflects a cohesive operational posture aimed at wearing down Ukrainian combat strength while denying them maneuver and supply flexibility.
