CERN researchers achieved this by aiming beams of lead at each other, traveling at close to the speed of light.

CERN is also building their new Particle Accelerator which is going to be over 57 miles in length. This is over 3 times the size of the current one. So what are they really studying and the purpose of the Large Hadron Collider?
