Riding a Kawasaki R188 Train on the 7 express line! From Mets Willets Point to Grand Central

Recorded May 2025. Earlier this month, a collogue invited me to a baseball game at Citi Field to see the New York Mets play against the Pittsburgh Pirates. After the game, I was going to try to catch the Long Island Railroad back to Grand Central since I took the Long Island Railroad to get to Citi Field from Grand Central. However, I ended up taking the New York City Subway since the wait times were much shorter compared to the half an hour wait at the Long Island Railroad Station. The Subway was running the extra game service trains while the Long Island Railroad was not. The Long Island Railroad does not have a spur that connects the rest of the Railroad to the Port Washington Branch so I guess this is why the Long Island Railroad does not prioritize game day service. Anyway, for the last several years I have been avoiding the New York City Subway due to skyrocketing crime that has been frequently occurring on the system. Because of this, I felt the need to avoid it for my own safety. However, with the wait times being significantly lower on the Subway compared to the Long Island Railroad to get to Grand Central, I decided to take the chance to power through and use the Subway. Thankfully the situation favored me since there was extra patrol from the New York City Police Department, extra trains as well as a good crowd of people using the trains. I felt safe with these conditions in play. Though to be real, the 7 train line does go through many decent neighborhoods despite New York City's ongoing decline. When I realized I was on the 7 express train, I decided to make a video out of it because when would the next time I would be able to ride a 7 express train occur? Especially since I didn't have to do it during rush hour due to the game day service. The Mets won on this night so the crowd was very enthusiastic which made the ride fun. At the end of the day, it was a fun ride that resulted in safe travels. Hopefully the major crime wave on the Subway will come past it's peak sooner rather than later!
