Franklin County, IN - A former Greenhills police officer will serve 100 years in prison for shooting his pregnant wife and then a deputy sheriff, a judge ordered Monday.
Gregory Guilfoyle was convicted of two counts of attempted murder and six other charges in the December 2022 shootings in southeastern Indiana.
Franklin County prosecutors say he shot and critically hurt his 23-year-old wife, Hannah Lynch, at their Brookville Township home.
Then, he ran outside in freezing temperatures with their 23-month-old daughter - who was only wearing a onesie - and shot a deputy sheriff near State Route 1 and U.S. 52.

Attempted murder suspect released from jail without bail
Newly released body camera video shows the attack on Franklin County Deputy Arin Bowers.
A snow plow driver called 911 after spotting Guilfoyle carrying the toddler as he walked down the middle of Richland Creek Road.
Deputy Bowers responded to try to help, but Guilfoyle fired his gun at him, striking the deputy’s bullet-resistant vest.
The deputy returned fire, hitting Guilfoyle once and seriously injuring him, and then picked up the toddler.
Guilfoyle is now a paraplegic as a result of the shooting and also has limited use of one of his arms, according to his attorney.
He was brought in and out of court in a wheelchair.
Guilfoyle said Monday he was hallucinating when he shot his then-wife and apologized to her: “I’m so sorry this happened. I love you with all my heart.”
She also spoke in court, noting that she continues to face various medical problems resulting from the shooting. She has a permanent shunt in her skull and lost part of a toe to frostbite.
Lynch thanked Deputy Bowers for saving her and her toddler.
His police chief at the time, however, testified for the state against him.
He has been diagnosed with other mental illnesses and is receiving treatment, his therapist said in court Monday.
After deliberating just a few hours, the jury found him “guilty but mentally ill.”
