Romans 03: The Revelation of God’s Righteousness in the Gospel 1:16-17

Tonight we will study the theme of Romans. Everything in the book revolves around God’s righteousness. The gospel reveals the nature of God’s righteousness as it relates to man’s salvation. History is ultimately about the glory of God and the glory relates to His self-revelation of Himself through His words and works. So, we will look at it carefully. So many people think that God will accept them because they do good works, or that God must compromise His righteousness to accept sinners. Neither of these is correct. God never compromises His righteousness and God does not accept our good works. He is totally consistent within Himself and in relation to us. The gospel is structured the way it is so that it is consistent with His righteousness and it is totally by grace so that it is in accordance with grace.
