I've always loved Lupin the 3rd, a lighthearted story of Lupin and his band of unique thieves whom seemingly performs heists on a grand scale, with Detective Zenigata always attached to their tails there are many hilarious antics that happen throughout the long history of this series. If you need a place to start, try "Lupin the 3rd and the Castle of Cagliostro" it was directed by the renowned Hayao Miyazaki, yes the same director who made "My Neighbor Totoro".
