American Jews & American Christians

Roughly 90% of the world’s Jews now live in Israel and North America. Over the past 40 years, American Jews have become increasingly ambivalent in their support for Israel. Most do support Israel, but Israel and Israelis have become a source of discomfort for them in their social circles. They find themselves having to explain and make excuses for Israel. By contrast, the Christian Right supports Israel easily and without reservation. This disparity in the relationship of American Jews and American Christians with Israel highlights the political distance between American Jews and American Christians, as well as their love-hate relationship.
