What it’s Like to be Married to a Comedian

My wife and I are insanely different people, but in good ways.

We complement one another.

The two of us share core values, and then try and bring out the best in each other on the fringes of things.

This paring has worked well for us since we met in 2006.

We understand our differences, and do our best to celebrate them.

All too often, people try and change their partner, to bend them to their own will.

Makes me think of a fantastic Onion headline: Girlfriend Changes Man Into Someone She’s Not Interested In.

I think that’s why many marriages/relationships fail.

People ignore red flags, or they think, “OK, they’re like this, but they’ll change…”

You can’t force change upon anyone, you can only love and accept them for who they are, and you can only be with someone whose differences are within your comfort zone.
