Drug Costs

President Trump recently took action that he hopes will bring down prescription drug prices. He is dealing with the hand that he was dealt, however, the main actual reason for high drug costs is that it is not a free market. When the federal government gets involved in paying for anything, prices are distorted. Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare and other government programs pay for drugs. The drug companies charge what an entity will pay. The federal government doesn't have to be accountable, it can just print money. Prescription drugs are no different than other consumer products, consumers shop around for the best deal both in quality and price. Most don't know what they pay for prescription drugs or health care overall, they just know what they pay for co-pay. Third party pay is responsible for this. Health care has to get back to direct pay, as is the case with other consumer products to bring costs down. It will also improve research and development as well.
Answers are simple, but politics and a desire for power get in there way. The Democrats have brought about Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare and all of their other scams to be able to use against Republicans. These programs always fail, Democrats know that, but they will still use that failure to claim Republicans want to take away something when they try to fix them.
Republicans have to expose Democrats for the Stalinists they are instead of trying to fix Democrat scams.
