The boy named Oliver was only about three years old, wearing a green hooded jacket, huddled on the road, sobbing and calling for his parents in despair, his voice choked with fear.
Not far away, a large male lion named Ares had just stirred awake, his thick and majestic mane swaying in the gentle breeze, his ears perked up to pick up strange sounds.
Ares had been an orphaned lion cub many years ago, rescued by a young American ranger named Michael after his mother was brutally killed by poachers.
Michael took care of Ares day and night, feeding him with a bottle, warming and protecting him, and gradually he found a way to integrate him into a pride of lions in a large reserve.
