Gnomeo & Juliet - Two Worlds

Title: “Garden of Opposites”
Scene: The twilight hour. The garden is quiet, humming with memory. Fireflies drift between vines. Nelly Furtado—Juliet in a red hooded shawl—waits on a stone bench. From the shadows, Gnomeo steps out. He is small, but carved like a soldier. His big “G” belt glints in the soft light.

Juliet/Nelly (softly, without turning):
You came back.
After all this time.

Gnomeo (voice low, rich with gravel and ghosts):
I never really left.
I was just… buried.
Under duty. Under frost. Under the weight of what we were.

[He steps forward, places a ceramic hand over the “G” on his belt.]

Gnomeo:
This emblem…
It’s not just a letter.
It stands for God, the breath behind all things.
Geometry, the sacred code beneath every rose and revolution.
And the Grand Architect—the one who built you and me to collide like planets, like an INXS song on repeat.

Juliet/Nelly (whispers):
“Two worlds collided, and they could never tear us apart…”

Gnomeo (smiling faintly):
You remember.

[They sit. The past hovers between them.]

Gnomeo:
I came from the East. Behind the Red Curtain. A land of shared soil but stolen dreams.
My hat was chipped. My colors faded. But I still stood—loyal to a garden that called itself equal, but feared love like ours.

Juliet/Nelly:
And I came from the West. Painted bright, sold bright. A place where dreams had price tags.
We measured love in likes. Fame in followers.
But I always knew… there was something deeper in you.
Even when you spoke in riddles and Marxist quotes.

Gnomeo:
You brought rhythm. Sunlight.
I brought secrets. Maps etched in stone.
They said we couldn’t work. You—a capitalist siren in denim and lace. Me—a chipped statue from a cracked utopia.

Juliet/Nelly (touches his hand):
But still… we danced.

Gnomeo (closing his eyes):
That first night… when the sprinklers turned on and soaked us…
And you sang “I’m Like a Bird” to cover our escape through the hedge line.
That’s when I knew.
The Architect—whoever he is—designed that moment.

Juliet/Nelly:
Do you still believe in him?

Gnomeo (points at the “G”):
More than ever.
He built paradox into the soil.
East and West.
Iron and Velvet.
You and me.

[In the distance, a garden light flickers, like a signal. Trouble approaches.]

Gnomeo (standing):
They want to bury us again, Juliet.
Plastic minds. Algorithmic love.
But they’ll never understand the math behind what we have.

Juliet/Nelly (smiling sadly):
No formula for fate.

Gnomeo (hand to belt):
Exactly.
And this time… I fight not for a country.
But for the symmetry of you and me.

[Cue soft instrumental of INXS’s “Never Tear Us Apart” woven with a gnome-sized military drumbeat.]
