Probable mechanical issue: NY official on deadly Mexico ship crash

A Mexican navy sailing ship festooned with lights and a giant flag crashed into the landmark Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday (May 17) night with the top of it masts, killing at least two people and injuring 17 others, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said. NYPD Special Operations Chief Wilson Aramboles told reporters, the pilot of the Cuauhtémoc likely experienced mechanical issues that complicated efforts to navigate the ship.
