Baker on the 86 47 Post: Trump Has Been Clear That He Planned to Take Retribution Against Comey in His First Term

BAKER: “Well, of course it does. Yes, absolutely. The president has been very clear. That he planned to take retribution against Jim Comey at any opportunity. Throughout his first term. He tried to get his. Justice Department to go after James Comey. In fact, they. Called for. Him to be locked up. No investigation produced any, you know, criminal. Charges or anything like that against Jim Comey. He’s just somebody that the president doesn’t like. And a. Lot. Of criticism of Jim Comey. Of course. There are. Democrats and Republicans alike who have criticisms of the way he handled things, but there’s no evidence that he’s committed a crime. And I think the Secret Service, you know, the Secret Service does take these things seriously. If there’s even a joking reference to harming the president. I think 86, you know. I’m not an expert. On that, I suppose, but. I’ve always used that. Term to say 86, like get rid of it, you know, not necessarily. I’ve never heard it. Used necessarily. Peter I say I’m going to 86 my trash. I say that all the time. I mean, you know, I think it’s a pretty common understanding of it. But beyond that. Yeah, I’ve never heard it. Used. As a, as a, as a proxy for assassination. But you heard Kristi Noem. The secretary of homeland security. A partizan Republican, former governor and supporter of President Trump. Say, oh my gosh, this is terrible. I’m going to have the secret. Service look into it. So obviously there’s some. Politics here. The and. Tulsi Gabbard said that. He. Should be locked up for posting this. And you’re. Right, he will be locked up. There’s no crime here that I’m aware of. I’m not a lawyer, but I don’t see a crime here. But that’s not the point. The point is. What you said is to send. A message to everybody who might say things against the president.”
