Dealing with Other 'Interpretations' of Genesis 1

In this brief excerpt from the course, Intro to the Bible and Theology, Dr. Barber discusses the various other "interpretations" of Genesis 1 – gap theory, theistic evolution, day-age theory, progressive creation, framework hypothesis, temple inauguration, and historic creation – and why they are all clearly rebellious abuses of the text of Scripture, "handling the word of God deceitfully" (2 Corinthians 4:2).

There is only one correct interpretation of Genesis 1, and that is God's own interpretation of it. And God provides His interpretation of Genesis both in that chapter itself, as well as throughout the remainder of His book, the Bible; for Scripture interprets Scripture.

There is no "private interpretation" of Scripture (2 Peter 1:20).
