TOR= Target of Rapamycin
A healthy body has times of building up and times of breaking down. This is important.
MTOR is a switch in our body that indicates building up or breaking down.
When the switch is on, we are building or growing. Things that turn the switch on are: stress, exercise, glucose/carbs, and insulin, to name a few.
When the switch is off, we are breaking down and cleaning up the old or broken cellular parts. Things that turn mTOR off are states of ketosis and fasting when we go through autophagy.
We can not be in the growth phase all the time. If it is on all the time, we are aging rapidly.
