The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC follows Estelle Bright and her adopted brother Joshua as they journey across the Liberl Kingdom to become full-fledged Bracers, a group dedicated to helping the public and maintaining peace. As they complete missions and explore the diverse regions of Liberl, they uncover a deeper political conspiracy involving ancient technology known as "orbments," a shadowy group known as the Ouroboros, and a mysterious plot that threatens the stability of the kingdom.

Throughout their travels, Estelle and Joshua grow closer, but the story takes a dramatic turn when Joshua’s dark past is revealed—he was once an assassin sent to destroy the Bright family. Struggling with his identity and guilt, Joshua ultimately leaves Estelle at the end of the game to confront his past, setting up the events for the sequel, Trails in the Sky SC. The game is praised for its deep world-building, character development, and rich political intrigue.
