A BBC investigation has uncovered evidence that children as young as 15 are being trafficked into illegal mines and sexually abused across South Africa.
Several eye witnesses have described repeated instances of sexual abuse of children in at least three illegal mines.
South Africa's illegal mining industry made global headlines last year following a standoff between police and miners at the Buffelsfontein gold mine in the North West Province.
