After a long travel day — over an hour stuck in immigration and another crawling through traffic into George Town — we were exhausted, stressed, and hungry. So we headed straight to Red Garden Food Paradise, one of Penang’s well-known open-air food courts, to wind down with some classic Malaysian street food.

We’ve been to Penang before, but this visit was all about comfort food. We grabbed a tasty mix of dishes:

Penang prawn noodles (Hokkien Mee)

Local stir-fried noodles

Chinese dumplings

Fresh sautéed vegetables from a Vietnamese food stall

The variety and the lively nighttime vibes at this spot always hit the right note — a blend of Malaysian, Chinese, and Vietnamese flavors all in one buzzing, casual setting. It wasn’t a big adventure night, just a satisfying welcome back to one of Southeast Asia’s best food cities.
