Attempt Great Things for God; Expect Great Things from God

Today many are here at Stepping Stones Church who are graduating from high school or college. I have written this morning’s message with you in mind.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The crown of His creation was mankind. We were created in His image and in His likeness and therefore driven to attempt great things for God. We are not to be addicted to mediocrity. We are to pursue excellence for His Excellency in everything. In the Old Testament book of II Chronicles, chapters 14-16, God recorded for us the rule of king Asa. Asa was king over Judah. In the earlier part of his reign, he did what was good and right in the sight of the Lord. In other words, he attempted great things for God and expected great things from God. However, in the last few years of his reign, he did things in his own strength and really messed things up. In the next few minutes, let us learn some valuable lessons that will aid us in attempting great things for God and expecting great things from God!
