Same Ole Republicans

Why does a man or woman run for office as a Republican? What do they hope to accomplish? What are they motivated by? It seems that most don't know for sure why they are elected Republicans other than they want to stay ion office. There are a few exceptions, but very few seem moved by core convictions. They can't even grasp what that means. They just seem to want the office, the six figure pay, the perks, a pension and opportunities after office. I don't get it, I can't understand wanting to be elected to office without pushing my core beliefs.
I can't understand how a Republican can see a 37 trillion debt, growing at a trillion every 100 days and not want to make dramatic cuts in spending and the size of government. Why? What are they really all about? Why is it so hard to do thed obvious right thing? Our country can't sustain the current path of growing debt. Are they so attached to holding onto their office that doing the right thing is not part of the picture? Doing the right thing may cost a few seats in the House, but could gain many more. If they had core beliefs, they would defend and explain them to people in their districts. Many just don't understand it.
It's time for the Republicans to become statesmen and save the country.
