35-year-old Michael James Alexander Jr killed in Waterloo shooting

Authorities have identified the man who was fatally shot Monday morning in Waterloo as 35-year-old Michael James Alexander Jr., according to the Waterloo Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of gunfire around 10:40 a.m. in the area of West 4th and Denver Streets.

Upon arrival, they discovered Alexander lying unresponsive in the driveway behind a residence located at 1300 West 4th Street.Emergency medical personnel were immediately called to the scene and transported Alexander to a nearby hospital.

Despite lifesaving efforts, he was later pronounced dead.Waterloo Police have not released any information regarding potential suspects or a motive at this time.
