LaMonica McIver has been charged with assault. What will the Democrats do next?

The Justice Department announced an assault charge Monday against Rep. LaMonica McIver, a New Jersey Democrat who was involved in a chaotic confrontation with officials outside a federal immigration facility earlier this month.

“I have persistently made efforts to address these issues without bringing criminal charges and have given Representative McIver every opportunity to come to a resolution, but she has unfortunately declined,” Habba said in a statement.

House Democratic leadership in a statement slammed the charge as “extreme, morally bankrupt and lacks any basis in law or fact.”

Hakeem Jeffries warned Republicans and *federal law enforcement* against sanctioning or arresting three Democratic New Jersey lawmakers who were involved in a tense immigration protest.

The three Democrats were inspecting the new ICE facility, and were involved in a scrum and assisting and resisting the arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka.

“First of all, I think that the so-called homeland security spokesperson is a joke,” Jeffries said. They know better than to go down that road. We’re not going to be intimidated by their tactics.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) threw a fit about the possibility that the House Democrats might face arrest.

The congresswoman issued her warning in an Instagram video posted on Sunday in response to the recent arrests of three Democrat New Jersey members of the House Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman, Rob Menendez, and LaMonica McIver during a visit to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center.

“If anyone’s breaking the law in this situation, it’s not members of Congress, it’s the Department of Homeland Security,” she said. “It’s people like Tom Homan and Secretary Kristi Noem.”

“You lay a finger on someone, on Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman … or any of the representatives that were there, you lay a finger on them, we are going to have a problem,” she added.

No, the problem is you throwing around your power. What is she saying with these remarks? What is she planning on doing in response? It sounds like a threat. It sounds like an effort to intimidate government officials into not acting, and that's concerning. Yes, the House members have oversight, but that doesn't mean they can break the law.

AOC probably thinks this is burnishing her credibility with the left if she wants to run for president in 2028 in what is likely to be a crowded field.

The Democrats are not only getting themselves into political trouble with their embrace of illegal aliens, but they're also getting themselves into potential legal trouble as well.

Tom Homan, known for his hardline stance on immigration, pushed back this week against a warning issued by a prominent progressive lawmaker, instead offering a stern caution of his own: Know the law and don’t break it.

“And I said from day one, and she knows this: you can not support ICE; shame on you. You can support sanctuary cities; shame on you.

But you can’t cross the line,” Homan said. “You can’t knowingly impede ICE law enforcement officers. That is a felony. You can’t harbor and conceal knowingly harbor and conceal illegal aliens from ICE. That is a felony. And you certainly can’t commit criminal trespass,” he continued. Homan said that the behavior of the lawmakers was reckless and inappropriate.

The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject its globalist agenda.

So let's see what happens now that there has been charges against LaMonica McIver.

What will the Democrats do, is it just idle threat from the Democrats or will they follow through it?
