XCOM 2 Story: Operation Death Slap

Objective: Hack the ADVENT Network Data Vault
Location: Slums District, New Rio City
Strike Team:

SGT Tom "Maverick" Cruise – Ranger (Team Leader)

SGT Joe "Fridge" Jukic – Grenadier

SGT John "T-Bird" Travolta – Specialist

SQ Lisa Furtado – Specialist (Rookie Mission)

SQ Nelly "Xenu Eater" Furtado – Sharpshooter (Rookie Mission)

Mission Start: Concealed Phase

The five soldiers crouch in the shadow of a collapsed overpass, the orange neon of the ADVENT network terminal glowing in the distance, pulsing like a heartbeat. Time to strike.

T-Bird (quietly over comms):
“Signal confirms. Data Vault is live. We have 8 turns.”

Maverick:
“Alright, move like ghosts. Lisa, stay on my six. Nelly—find a perch.”

Nelly scrambles up a half-demolished tower, leveling her sniper rifle across the broken skyline.

Turn 2 – Contact

The squad slinks forward until Fridge—moving ahead with his heavy cannon—kicks a broken pipe. Clang.
From the alley below, a hiss slithers upward.

T-Bird:
“Contact. Viper and one ADVENT Trooper. Left flank.”

Nelly (calmly):
“I see the trooper.” Crack!
The bullet whistles clean through the trooper’s skull. He folds like paper.

Maverick:
“Nice shot. Fridge—fall back. We’ll—”

Too late. The Viper lunges, its muscular coils snapping around Joe Jukic’s armored body.

Fridge (gasping):
“She’s stronger than she looks—!”

Maverick (growling):
“Nobody squeezes Fridge but his fans.”

With a primal yell, Maverick rushes the Viper, drawing his blade mid-sprint. He slashes up the creature’s spine in one clean arc. It screams and unravels from Joe, staggering back, blood hissing.

Maverick:
“Lisa, give me a combat protocol!”

Lisa:
“I’ve got something better.” Zap!
Her GREMLIN bot unleashes an electric pulse, frying the wounded Viper where it stands.

Turn 5 – Data Vault Breach

T-Bird and Lisa fan out, securing the building perimeter. Joe wipes the Viper's blood from his cannon, limping slightly but determined.

Fridge:
“I’m getting into that Vault, even if I have to bash it open.”

He plants his hacking module on the console. Sparks fly. The HUD lights up:

> Data Access: 87% Success Rate
> Choose Reward: Large Cache of Intel / Stun Lancer Research

Fridge:
“Let’s go with knowledge.”
Hack successful.

T-Bird (smiling):
“Vault’s cracked. Nice work, fridge magnet.”

Evac and Debriefing – Skyranger "Firebrand"

Maverick:
“Mission accomplished. No casualties. Lisa, Nelly—you did good. Welcome to the war.”

Nelly (cleaning her sniper):
“I prefer long-distance relationships.”

Lisa:
“I fried a snake today. I’m ready for anything.”

PROMOTIONS:

Tom “Maverick” Cruise → Lieutenant – Gains “Blade Storm”

Joe “Fridge” Jukic → SGT – Gains “Holo Targeting”

Lisa Furtado → Corporal – Gains “Combat Protocol”

Nelly “Xenu Eater” Furtado → Corporal – Gains “Deadeye”

Commander’s Note:
The Furtado Sisters have potential. Maverick’s leadership kept the squad tight under pressure. Death Slap was a success—fast, loud, and personal. ADVENT won’t forget this one. Neither will the snake.
