Episode 176 - The Malcolm X Assassination (Part VI)

In this episode, Malcolm X burns the ships with the Nation of Islam, accusing its leader - Elijah Muhammad - of not only succumbing to the vice of material greed, but also to sexual immorality. The former compromised the cause, the latter compromised the leader, resulting in at least six children born out of wedlock and a precarious legal situation. The ensuing reaction from an increasing number of Malcolm X enemies included an eviction notice, death threats, assassination attempts, and a memo from FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover ordering his surveillance teams to "DO SOMETHING ABOUT MALCOLM X".

Malcolm's post-Mecca message no longer corresponds with the prophet Elijah Muhammad's message, angering his black Muslim brothers. His growing friendship with socialist revolutionaries like Fidel Castro and Che Guevara coupled with his efforts to build an international coalition opposing capitalism in support of human rights borders on treason. His public chastisement of the United States government for its hypocrisy on human and civil rights is an affront to the establishment, embarrassing Washington DC in front of the world. Does Malcolm X have a death wish?
