Rescue The Fosters: WALKING AWAY... w/ Founder of Prostitutes Anonymous - Jody Williams

Jody Williams was recruited to be a madam in the late 1970's. Her recruiters owned a nightclub and were related to Richard Pryor. References to this club were shown in the series "I'm Dying Up Here" on Showtime and also on the FX series "Snowfall". Jody had an inside look of the elite that ruled Hollywood.

While this was taking place in LA during the late 1970's and the early 1980's, she had a front row seat to Iran Contra. The CIA was responsible for the cocaine epidemic and all while the AIDS virus had taken hold. However, gang members were blamed for it by the mainstream media.

The things that Jody had seen were so troubling. Along with the cocaine and gun trafficking, American women and children were also being sold! She decided to start the first ever screening service to protect as many vulnerable people as possible. This resulted in Jody being arrested in 1984 and dubbed the "High Tech Madam" by the media.

The government and law enforcement were involved at the highest levels, Jody and other madams started to take matters into their own hands but subsequently were arrested that year! Faced with probation or parole and told she couldn't talk to anyone connected to that scene, Jody created the 12 step program called "Prostitutes Anonymous".

The phone-in hotline has received over 500,000 calls since 1987! This has allowed her a continuing view into the world of sex trafficking. Ironically, these systems are supposedly protecting women and children.

When the deal was struck to not prosecute Jeffrey Epstein, Jody was on the front lines of American sex trafficking. Suddenly, the walls came down and she was shut out of the systems she had created to help trafficked victims. Anyone associated with her found themselves fired or smeared.

The Trafficking Act was passed in 2000. Prior to this legislation, anyone under the age of 18 that was suspected of being a prostitute was considered a criminal. This meant that anyone receiving federal funds could not be found "harboring a criminal". The juvenile detention and foster care systems refused to help these targeted victims until this official "victim" status was granted to them.

Only after this status were they being "admitted for help". Jody began to see everything change and felt that the traffickers were in control of the systems or were replaced by people that would do as they were told. Imagine a scenario where Pablo Escobar becomes a congressman and starts writing laws to prevent drug traffickers from being extradited to the USA and then builds his own prison! This example is the type of things Jody started witnessing here in the America!
